Endless Mountains

We drove up to the New York part of our property today to look at the blueberries and hay fields, this is an incredible view overlooking the valley. Our farm is nestled way down in there, folded safely in the hills. They call this region the "Endless Mountain" region of Pennsylvania, appropriately named. I do love it here. The salad days of summer are here. Lots of greens to be had, beautiful to eat and beautiful to look at.The thing about cheap labor is that you gotta feed them! You have to watch or they will eat all your profits. This a beautiful photo of some strawberries we shared with some friends last Sunday (Regina has all the best dishes in the world). Amelia has done some work in their gardens and you can see some fun photos of her doing some daring deeds in the garden here.

The lavender is beginning to bloom. My friend Tammy and I planted 100 lavender plants last summer, they nearly all made it through the harsh winter and are rewarding us with their beautiful smell and blossoms.

Gorgeous photos!
We also live in the mountains, my family 'makes fun of me' because I am forever saying "look at the mountains" I will never tire of them!!
mmm... lavender is a heavenly plant! The smell brings me right back to my wedding, we gave away little boxes of dried lavender with beautifully packaged wildflower seeds and a translucent paper over it with a poem... so yes, back to the lavender lol ; ) the smell of it always takes me back! I wish I lived a bit closer to you I would love to visit your gorgeous farm!! Your salad greens look like the ones we sell at the market with nasturtiums thrown in, yum!

Those salad greens are beautiful! I'm going to have to remember to plant much, much more next year...I'm getting enough greens from my garden to make a salad about once every other week. ;)As always, I've loved seeing your photos of where you live.

how blessed you are to live in such a beautiful place! It looks a lot like New Zealand, actually :-)

I especially liked the photos of the cats.

So beautiful!
I love the kittens all nestled on the barn door, so adorable!
I must say your salad is incredible.
We are wanting to take a trip to Gettysburg someday soon...
I hope it's as beautiful in that part of the state!

Everything is so beautiful, and even more so knowing how much labor and love go into the finished product. The salad is so gorgeous I am willing to drive for it. Where is your farmer's mkt again? Email me info, if you don't mind.

Your farm and all its fruits of your labor just look SO wonderful. We live in Arizona, and I'm having a hard time getting my veggies to grow - tomatoes keep rotting on the vine (worms?, birds?) and now it is SO hot...very challenging.
